Your Mission

We are looking for a special educator for the adapted primary school!

In the role of special educator, you have an overall responsibility to ensure that our students receive the right adaptations and support to succeed in their learning and personal development.

As a special educator in the adapted primary school, you are responsible for pedagogical mapping, among other things. In your work, you are expected to map opportunities and obstacles in the school environment with the aim of creating an accessible learning environment from different perspectives.

You collaborate closely with educators and educational assistants in schools and after-school care and are involved in designing, following up, and developing teaching, extra adaptations, and special support. You contribute to knowledge and learning about various disabilities and their significance for learning, and you have a guiding/consultative role to provide advice and support regarding pedagogical, physical, and social adaptations.

You are an important part of the school's student health team and contribute there with the special educational perspective in the school's health-promoting, preventive, and remedial work. You collaborate closely with other professionals within the school's student health team led by the school principal. As a special educator, you also collaborate with external actors such as child and youth habilitation.

As a special educator for the adapted primary school, you follow the student's knowledge development throughout their schooling and contribute to security during transitions between stages and/or in transitions between preschool/primary school and the adapted primary school. You are also available as support to educators in preschool/primary school in pedagogical assessments in school form investigations.

You take the initiative for health-promoting measures and follow up and evaluate these at both individual, group, and organizational levels. You contribute to school development by keeping yourself updated on current research in the field of education and special education.

Your work involves many contact points with students, staff, guardians, and external activities and authorities.

In the role of special educator at the adapted primary school, you may also be tasked with mentoring and supporting staff in primary school who meet students in need of special support.

Description of the Workplace

The adapted primary school is located at Stenberg School, in the industrial community of Ljusne at the mouth of the Ljusnan River. We are close to forests, rivers, and the sea. The school area also includes primary school grades F-9 and Ljusne preschool. Here, the public library and school library share facilities. The two school buildings are from the 1950s and 1970s and have been renovated several times over the years to adapt to the operations.

The adapted primary school consists of nine student groups with a total of about 45 students, from grades 1-9. Two of the student groups study subjects, and seven groups focus on subject areas.

Your Competence

The requirements for the position are that you are a trained special educator and that you have experience working with students with intellectual disabilities.

As a person, you are solution-focused and see collaboration with the student health team and educators as a natural part of your mission.

You have a salutogenic approach and work proactively and preventively with the student's learning environment.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
